King Abdulaziz International Airport serves 49.1mln passengers in 2024

King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah has reached a significant milestone, setting a new record as the busiest airport in Saudi Arabia in 2024. The airport welcomed over 49.1 million passengers, marking a 14% year-on-year increase compared to 2023.

In addition to the surge in passenger traffic, KAIA reported a notable rise in flight operations, with more than 278,000 flights recorded—an 11% increase from the previous year. The airport also handled 47.1 million bags, reflecting a 21% growth in overall operational throughput.

KAIA’s busiest day ever was December 31, 2024, when it served more than 174,600 passengers. Similarly, December 2024 became the airport’s busiest month, with passenger numbers surpassing 4.7 million. These record-breaking figures highlight the growing demand and operational efficiency of the airport, further solidifying its position as a key hub for international travel in the region.

Eng. Mazen Johar, CEO of Jeddah Airports, attributed these record-breaking numbers to the airport’s accelerated operational growth, enabled by the unwavering support of the Kingdom’s leadership and the close oversight of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. He highlighted ongoing infrastructure development efforts at KAIA, emphasizing the company’s vision to position the airport as a global hub. This vision is focused on enhancing the passenger experience while serving as a gateway to the Two Holy Mosques and a driver of tourism and trade.

Johar extended his gratitude to all stakeholders from government and private sectors for their collaborative efforts. He commended their collective contributions to delivering world-class services that align with the Kingdom’s status.
